MLA slaps voter in polling queue, video goes VIRAL
Hyderabad: In a show of power culture, an Andhra Pradesh MLA from Jagan Reddy's party slapped a voter, reportedly after he objected to the politician's abrupt entry into the polling queue.
The video from the polling booth in Guntur District shows Tenali's YSR Congress Party MLA, A Sivakumar, slapping the voter on the face. The voter also hits back, giving a smashing blow to the politician's face. Following the act, MLA's aides come to politicians residence, launching a colletive attack on the voter and physically assaulting him. The other voters standing in line are seen stopping the brawl.
Politician being heavily criticized:The act of the politician is receiving strong criticism from all ends. Many of the users are demanding strong action against this barbaric act, with some of them insisting on a jail term for the politician. The politician is being called a goon, shameless, and arrogant for his egoism.
YSRCP'S stand: The party has said that they are reviewing the viral video and have shared several visuals of its injured supporters and workers allegedly being hit by TDP workers. The party has also alleged that other parties were orchestrating to defame its politicians.
Voting in Andhra Pradesh: The poll scene in Andhra Pradesh has been volatile since both competing parties have a lot at stake. Its 25 Lok Sabha seats and 175 Assembly seats are being voted today. The major faceoff in this year's election is among the BJP-TDP-JSP alliance, the India bloc, and the YSRCP. Previously, YSRCP had gained victory with 151 seats in the last assembly elections.
Jagan Reddy, who has been emerging victorious and securing power in his favor for a decade now, is aiming to repeat the victory, while N. Chandrababu Naidu, who has joined ranks with the BJP, is targeting a comeback.
